{"id":4098,"date":"2017-06-30T01:18:22","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T06:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stager.tv\/?p=4098"},"modified":"2020-07-25T18:57:30","modified_gmt":"2020-07-25T23:57:30","slug":"design-as-an-inadequate-lens-for-understanding-seymour-papert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stager.tv\/?p=4098","title":{"rendered":"Design as an Inadequate Lens for Understanding Seymour Papert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote the attached <a href=\"http:\/\/stager.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IDC-paper-2017-Stager.pdf\">paper<\/a> for the <a href=\"http:\/\/idc2017.stanford.edu\">2017 Interaction Design and Children Conference<\/a>\u00a0at Stanford University. It was accepted, but ultimately not published since I could not justify the thousand bucks or so it would cost to attend the conference\u00a0<em>and then<\/em> sign over the copyright of my work in order for it to disappear into an obscure journal.<\/p>\n<p>Participating in such academic conferences have a very low return on investment since I am not a tenure track university professor. Nonetheless, I hope this paper makes some sort of contribution to the discussion.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The recent death of Seymour Papert is an occasion for grief, celebration, and planning for building upon his enormous contributions to knowledge.
