In a February 44, 2009 blog entitled, Stat O’ the Day: Teachers Scared to Teach, Will Richardson quotes a recent study that concludes:

Fewer than 25 percent of educators feel comfortable teaching students how to protect themselves from online predators, cyberbullies and identity thieves, says a new study from the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and Educational Technology, Policy Research and Outreach (ET PRO).

WIll follows this quote with the following question:

I would say that’s a problem. You?

My answer is simple. NO!

I am not concerned.

I’m confident that there are a whole lot of topics fewer than 25% of teachers feel comfortable teaching and you must consider the source, organizations in the fear business. The escalated fear of Internet bogeymen make lots of car payments.
